June is over and time has flown by so far this year! We can’t believe we’re already more than half way through 2023, and on top of that, there were a lot of digital marketing updates last month. We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s dive in and take a look at some of the top marketing updates in June you don’t want to miss…
Instagram is testing a new AI chatbot
AI seems to be appearing everywhere at the moment, and Instagram is no exception. Instagram has been looking for more ways to expand on messaging, and the social media platform is testing a new chatbot, similar to Snapchat’s My AI tool.
The element will be accessible via direct messaging, with users being able to access the chat by typing @ai into the chat field. The bot was created as an expressive tool with multiple personalities to choose from, to inspire creativity and help you to write messages. Currently, experiences with text, images, and video messages are being explored, and the bot will answer questions and give advice when requested and could eventually be used to optimise filters and ads.
Adobe introduces AI into graphic design and photoshop
This is a big update for graphic designers: Adobe has introduced AI into graphic design, “Firefly”. The introduction of AI is aimed to accelerate ideation and productivity and act as a “co-pilot” alongside designers.
The AI tool will work with Generative Fill, allowing users to easily add, extend or remove elements from their design without disruption with simple text prompts. Its convenient and easy use is already enabling designers to bring their visions to life much quicker, empowering their creativity with high-quality images. This is perfectly timed, as a study by Adobe has found that 88% of brands saw content demand double in the last year. There are plans that it will eventually be trained on customers’ creative assets so it can produce content based on a brand style and language, helping users to get the most out of their talents.
LinkedIn phases out multiple creative features
As of June 26th, 2023, LinkedIn phased out three creative features: carousels, profile videos, and link stickers. The decision for this has come following feedback from users that these features were not facilitating engaging conversations with customers and the platform aims to streamline its user experience. It is important to note that the popular PDF carousel feature is not being removed, but rather, the native carousel feature, so documents can still be shared! These features will still be visible in previous posts, but you won’t be able to create new ones, and link stickers will not be clickable.
While it is assumed that these changes to LinkedIn will not have a massive impact on creators and companies, they will need to be factored into strategies and content approaches accordingly to ensure that the content planned is still relevant and shareable.
LinkedIn company pages can now send and receive DMs
Studies have shown that 33% of customers prefer to use social media to get in touch with brands and organisations rather than a phone call, so it’s no surprise that companies are improving the customer experience through social media. As one of the top digital marketing updates in June, LinkedIn introduced new messaging capabilities for company pages, facilitating conversations and making it easier for organisations to engage with their audience.
Organisations can participate in two-way conversations and prioritise the enquiries that matter most, straight away seeing how customers need help. Do they have a service request, need support, or maybe they’re interested in working with you? It’s an invaluable tool for building customer connections, and you could use the tool to facilitate strong customer relationships from the get-go, such as by sending welcome messages to new followers.
