October has flown by and we don’t know about you, but we can’t believe it’s already time for another monthly roundup. As always, it has been a busy month in the marketing world and there is a lot to unpack. From new professional account features on Twitter to the next step in Facebook’s famous transformation, if you’re after the top social media updates, you’re in the right place.
Twitter launched new ‘Link Spotlight’ and ‘Community Spotlight’ for Professional Accounts
If you haven’t switched to a professional Twitter account yet, what are you waiting for? It’s free to do and offers a variety of exclusive tools. Since launching the professional profile option, Twitter has added several features and October saw the introduction of two new elements.
Link Spotlight
The Link Spotlight is a feature that allows professional account users to add an interactive button to their profile that links to a URL. Twitter hopes this will help business drive traffic to their services or products.
Community Spotlight
The new Community Spotlight feature means that professional accounts can now showcase their Twitter communities. This will appear above the Twitter timeline and aims to drive interest in focused discussions within the app.
Instagram began testing in-app scheduling
Calling all influencers and marketers, this is big news. Instagram has listened to our prayers and is finally testing out in-app scheduling for both reels and regular posts. This test is currently only available for select users but we’re hopeful that they’ll begin rolling it out for the rest of us over the coming months.
Linkedin added new link stickers
We all know that Linkedin has been working hard to increase in-app engagement, and it must be working because they are consistently seeing record levels of user engagement. Linkedin clearly doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon as they have recently added ‘person’ and ‘page’ stickers as yet another way to drive traffic to your posts. We’ll definitely be giving them a go.
Facebook ditched instant articles
Facebook is undergoing a major transformation and we’re here for it. They’re slowly making the move to focus on entertaining and informative video content as opposed to news content and by ditching instant articles, they’re one step closer. This is great news for Facebook users because we’ll get to see more of the content that we find engaging.
